Helping Children in Hospital and at Home
So pleased the Garden is now open.
The ribbon was cut by our amazing patron & actor Will Thorp.RUH Chief Executive Cara Charles- Barks said: “I am so grateful to Time is Precious for their incredible generosity.“Thanks to them we have been able to completely transform the outdoor garden area for our Children’s Ward.
“It’s so important that our young patients have the opportunity to enjoy some time playing outside in the fresh air if they can. It can help to improve their recuperation and gives them a break from being on the ward.”
Before
4 years ago the garden was shut, over growing with damaged slippery rubber floor and rotten equipment.
The project took over 3 years to complete due to various problems, including the Covid 19 pandemic, which has delayed the full completion.

Amazing Transformation
The new-look garden has something for all ages, and cost around about £33,000.
The area contains all weather artificial grass, a basketball net, football goal, playhouse, play panels which includes noughts and crosses and connect 4 , slides, ride-ons, camper van play set , benches picnic tables and for those patients and their families who want to rest, there is a chill out hut with rattan furniture.
More equipment will be added when covid 19 intensive care unit is removed.
